Plymouth County Hospital Re-Use Plan Meeting
March 25, 2000
Present: Judy Murdoch, Cathy Kuchinski, Daniel Webster, Stephanie McSweeney and Peter Jones. Executive Secretary Winn Davis also present.
Consultants Al Hanscom and Dave Spillane of VHB (Vanasse Hangen, Brustlin, Inc.) of Watertown conducted the first of a series of information gathering sessions. The first session was attended by elected and appointment officials looking to impart their desires for the various potential uses for the newly acquired Plymouth County Hospital property.
Recreational uses (passive and active), youth center possibilities along with walking trails, bike paths and active use by creating soccer and baseball fields. Market rate over 55 housing units and affordable senior housing was discussed. Municipal uses stressed need for improved services for senior centers. Excitement was evident from all who attended. Members from the Historical Commission updated other officials on efforts toward listing property on Mass. Historical Registry.
Next meeting to be held by VHB is set for April 13, 2000 with anyone interested from the public.
